Application notes: The BMW E46 3 Series and 330 use a two-piece propshaft with a center bearing carrier located forward of the rear axle. The 2780-58 directly replaces BMW OEM part numbers 26122282496 and 26127506783. E46 center bearing failures typically present as a rhythmic drone or vibration at 50--80 mph that worsens with temperature -- the rubber isolator hardens with age and loses damping ability, transmitting propshaft harmonics through the tunnel floor. Inspect the propshaft flex disc (guibo) at the front simultaneously -- E46 flex discs rarely outlast two center bearing service intervals.
