Q: Can I use 2780-45 instead of 2780-40 if the bore is the same 1.181"?
A: No. The center-to-base heights differ (2780-45 = 1.750", 2780-40 = 2.000"). Fitting the shorter carrier raises the midpoint of the propshaft relative to the tunnel, changing the U-joint operating angles and introducing a first-order vibration. Always match all three dimensions: bore, center-to-base height, and mount hole span.
