1480-90 -- Merkur Scorpio/XR4Ti Center Support Bearing (1985-1989)
The Merkur Scorpio and XR4Ti are German-built Ford products sold in the US from 1985 to 1989. Driveshaft hardware for these vehicles has been out of OEM production for decades, making aftermarket availability the only realistic service path. The 1480-90 is a direct replacement center support bearing with 1.181" bore ID, 2.000" center-to-base, and 5.875" mount hole spacing.
The 2.000" center-to-base is relatively tall for a European sedan application -- this positions the shaft centerline to match the low-mounted rear differential input on the Merkur platforms. A failed carrier on a 35+ year old vehicle typically shows complete rubber separation rather than gradual cracking. Inspect the stub shaft splines and bearing surface for wear before installing a new carrier.
