D2MS UDS 1310 Series D2M Dust Cap for Slip Yoke
The D2MS is a UDS D2M-style dust cap for 1310 series slip yoke applications. This cap fits over the open end of the slip yoke's spline bore and stop shaft cavity, sealing it against road debris, water, and contaminants that accelerate spline corrosion and restrict telescoping travel. The 1310 series is the most common driveshaft series in light-truck and passenger car rear driveshaft applications — the D2MS is the corresponding cap for this series.
The D2M designation refers to the cap's engagement geometry specific to 1310 series yoke bore dimensions. The 1310 series U-joint cap diameter is 1.062 inches; its stop shaft diameter and yoke bore dimensions are proportionally smaller than 1350 or 1410 series components. A D3G cap (1350/1410 series) will not fit a 1310 yoke bore correctly, and the D2MS is not compatible with larger-series yokes. Before ordering D2MS, verify your slip yoke is a 1310 series component — inspect the U-joint cap diameter in the yoke ears (1.062" = 1310 series) or check the yoke's existing cap for a D2M marking.

Fitment & Installation Notes
Confirm the slip yoke is 1310 series before ordering D2MS. Inspect the bore end of the yoke for the dust cap seat — the D2M profile must match the seat geometry. If the original cap was threaded (screw-on), verify D2MS is also a screw-on type; if the original was press-on, confirm D2MS is press-on. Mixing retention types between the cap and yoke seat produces an insecure fit that can allow the cap to exit the yoke at operating speed, which then permits debris ingestion into the spline zone.
The 1310 series slip yoke is standard equipment on half-ton truck rear driveshafts, light commercial vans, and many rear-wheel-drive passenger car applications. The dust cap is a consumable item — replace D2MS if it shows cracking, hardening, or any visible gap at the yoke bore seat. A leaking dust cap allows grease to be flung from the stop shaft area and allows water to pool in the spline engagement zone, causing fretting corrosion on both the yoke internal splines and the stop shaft external splines within one or two wet seasons.
Install D2MS by aligning the cap with the yoke bore seat and pressing or threading to full engagement. No adhesive or sealant is required or recommended — cap retention depends entirely on the mechanical fit of the D2M geometry.
