Full Description
A frequent failure mode on the Lincoln Navigator two-piece driveshaft is the center support bearing developing a howl or rumble at 45--65 mph that disappears at other speeds. This resonance occurs because the rubber isolator hardens with age, losing its ability to damp driveline harmonics through the center hanger bracket.
- SKU 3580-50 -- Lincoln Navigator application, 1.574" (40 mm) bore ID
- Rubber-isolated ball bearing assembly -- isolator dampens torsional vibration from the driveshaft
- Verify the stub shaft OD is 1.574" before installation; a worn shaft will not provide correct bearing retention
- OEM cross-reference: Ford/Lincoln part numbers in the 4L7Z-4B468-AA family -- confirm against your VIN
- After installation, check driveshaft phasing -- the front and rear sections must be in phase (slip yoke and weld yoke splines aligned) to prevent a first-order vibration
Tip: apply a thin coat of high-temp wheel bearing grease to the stub shaft journal before pressing the bearing, but keep it off the rubber isolator -- grease degrades the rubber compound over time.
