The 6.125-inch end-to-weld dimension on the 3-55-36 determines how far the slip sleeve extends into the driveshaft tube before the weld joint. This length governs how much axial travel is available in the slip assembly -- a longer engagement length provides more travel but reduces the moment arm for any angular misalignment at the weld.
When installing, confirm the 2.844-inch butt diameter clears the transmission tailshaft housing bore. The 3.000 x 0.083 tube specification is a standard DOM tube used on many mid-range driveshaft applications. Using this sleeve on a non-spec wall thickness tube creates a joint gap that will crack under cyclic loading.
