2-55-278X UDS Splined Midship Tube Shaft
The 2-55-278X is a splined midship tube shaft manufactured by UDS. In a two-piece driveshaft assembly, the midship shaft occupies the center section: one end carries the splined bore that accepts a slip yoke, and the other end connects to a U-joint. The shaft is welded into a driveshaft tube.
The spline specification is 3.002 — the slip yoke that slides onto this shaft must have an identical spline count and diameter. The shaft is designed to fit inside a tube with a butt diameter of 3.854 inches at the weld joint. The end-to-weld dimension is 4.910 inches.
