The 2880-27 uses a 2.188" center-to-base height -- a Mercedes-specific dimension falling between the 2.000" and 2.250" standard heights. As with many Mercedes center bearing specifications, this non-standard value requires precise measurement of the removed unit before ordering; rounding to 2.000" or 2.250" selects the wrong part and introduces a propshaft angle error.

• Bore ID: 1.181" (30 mm) -- verify the stub shaft OD with a digital micrometer
• Center to base: 2.188" -- measure the removed bearing with digital calipers to confirm; the 2.188" dimension is 3.5 mm above 2.000" and 1.6 mm below 2.250"
• Rubber isolator: Mercedes application compound; do not substitute a generic isolator
• The center support bearing must seat fully on the crossmember bracket face -- check for flatness before torquing
