2880-22 -- Mercedes-Benz Center Support Bearing, 30 mm Bore, 0.750"
The 2880-22 joins the 2880-30 as a 0.750" center-to-base Mercedes center bearing with a 30 mm bore. As with the other dimensional-twin Mercedes SKUs, these two units differ in bracket geometry for different model applications. Confirm via the OEM part number from the removed bearing.
Mercedes-Benz compact platform (center support bearing) failures at 0.750" height often first present as a faint drone at 40--50 mph that disappears at other speeds. This is the classic first-bending-mode resonance of the propshaft when the center bearing isolator has lost sufficient damping. On AMG-equipped variants, the stiffer engine mounts transmit more vibrational energy into the propshaft, which means AMG center bearings typically show this symptom earlier than on normally aspirated models with standard mounts. Mercedes OEM references in the A 169, A 245, or A 205 series depending on model; confirm via VIN.
