2780-20 -- BMW Two-Piece Propshaft Center Support Bearing
An upgrade path that many BMW owners attempt is replacing a worn center support bearing with the physical bearing only, pressing it into the original rubber cup. This shortcut fails because the rubber cup deforms asymmetrically during pressing, leaving the bearing cocked in its housing by as much as 0.5 degrees -- enough to cause measurable vibration. The 2780-20 is supplied as a complete assembly; install it as delivered.
Specifications: 1.181" bore, 2.500" center-to-base height, 5.500" center-to-center mount hole spacing. These dimensions correspond to BMW platforms using the narrower 5.5" tunnel bracket span. Confirm the mount span on your crossmember before ordering -- 2780-35 and 2780-20 share the same bore and center-to-base height but have different mount spans (5.500" vs. 5.500" -- identical in this case; verify notes field on the product data for any variation).
