2780-10 Specifications: Bore 1.181" — Center-to-base 1.750" — Mount span 5.250" C-to-C — Application: BMW
The 2780-10 uses the 5.250" mount span rather than the wider 6.300" used on other BMW platforms. The failure mode that most often brings this bearing in for replacement is rubber isolator separation: the bond between the rubber cup and the outer steel carrier fatigues after prolonged exposure to oil contamination from a leaking differential or transmission output seal. Address any upstream leaks before installing a replacement center support bearing, or the new isolator will fail prematurely for the same reason.
