Q: Why does the 2580-70 have a 4.125" center-to-base height?
A: Audi's longitudinal AWD platform positions the propshaft tunnel high on certain body styles. The 4.125" height keeps the bearing at the correct centerline height relative to the tunnel floor, maintaining the factory driveshaft angle. Substituting a shorter carrier would drop the midshaft and increase rear U-joint working angle.
Q: The mount span is 9.500" -- is that the widest in the Audi range?
A: Close -- 2580-75 is slightly longer at 9.375" on a narrower span (note: 9.375" vs 9.500"). The 2580-70 at 9.500" fits the widest Audi CSB crossmember in this group.
