Category Information

The nose bushing lives inside the transmission extension housing and supports the slip yoke as it slides in and out during suspension travel and drivetrain movement. Its job is to keep the yoke centered, prevent metal-to-metal contact between the yoke and the housing bore, and reduce the lateral load on the transmission tail shaft seal. A worn nose bushing allows the slip yoke to wobble, accelerates seal wear, and can introduce a vibration that’s often misdiagnosed as a shaft balance issue. Replacement is straightforward when you have the right bushing — correct OD for the housing bore, correct ID for the yoke stem, and the right material for the operating environment.
