Aluminum tube needs aluminum weld yokes and the correct welding procedure. It cannot be welded to steel yokes.
Aluminum tube is chosen to cut rotating mass and, because the tube runs larger in diameter for equivalent strength, it often allows a longer one-piece shaft than steel would. That combination is why it shows up in performance and racing drivelines.
The trade-off is process. Aluminum shafts need matching aluminum yokes and a welder set up for the alloy, and the finished assembly still has to be balanced as a unit.
