Full Description
The 9980-40 is a Subaru center bearing with a more pronounced offset than the 9980-45. Where the 9980-45 offsets one bracket by 0.75" with the other flush, the 9980-40 runs 2.000" on one side and 1.000" on the opposite. This larger differential tilt suits Subaru configurations where the chassis mounting surface has a steeper angle relative to the driveshaft centerline.
Subaru's AWD architecture positions the driveshaft center bearing on vehicles with both horizontally-opposed engines and longitudinal transmission layouts. The asymmetric bracket heights on these bearings reflect the specific angle at which the driveshaft crosses the chassis beam or crossmember at the bearing location.
