9980-58 -- Subaru BRZ / Scion FR-S / Toyota 86 Center Support Bearing
The Subaru BRZ, Scion FR-S, and Toyota 86 share a platform and driveline, meaning the same center support bearing applies across all three nameplates. The 9980-58 addresses the 30 mm (1.181") bore used on the ZN6/ZC6 propshaft, with a rubber-isolated bracket engineered for the resonant frequencies of the FA20 boxer engine and the sports car chassis.
BRZ/FR-S/86 center bearing failures often occur earlier than expected on modified cars, particularly those with increased engine power or lower suspension. Lowering the car changes the propshaft working angle at the center joint, increasing the cyclic load on the center support bearing. Any suspension modification should be accompanied by a driveshaft angle check. Toyota OEM reference: 37230-12040 applies to the early ZN6 production; Subaru OEM reference in the 27471 series for ZC6.
