Full Description
The 9980-42 fills the 1.500" center-to-base position in Subaru's AWD center bearing range -- between the compact 0.750" and 1.000" units and the taller 1.750" and 2.125" variants. This height appears on Subaru models with a crossmember bracket drop that places the bearing centerline 1.500" below the mounting face.
- Bore ID: 1.181" (30 mm) -- Subaru AWD stub shaft standard; verify the shaft OD before installation
- Center to base: 1.500" -- confirm against the removed bearing; do not substitute a 1.375" or 1.625" unit
- Rubber-isolated bonded construction -- the center support bearing isolator and bracket are supplied as a single unit
- Subaru OEM references in the 27471 series; confirm by chassis code and drivetrain specification
Tip: Subaru uses locating tabs on some center bearing bracket designs. These tabs fit into corresponding slots in the crossmember -- not just for alignment, but to prevent the bracket from rotating under torque reaction. If the crossmember slot is worn or torn, the bracket will rotate under acceleration, progressively changing the propshaft angle and accelerating bearing wear. Inspect the crossmember slot before installation.
