The 5-1330x is a 1330 series -- light-to-medium duty GM and Dodge platforms outside snap ring retention universal joint measuring 1.063" cap dia | 3.625" width. The 5-1330x is sealed, no grease fitting required. Every 5-1330x is verified for cap diameter, bearing width, and snap ring groove dimensions before it ships from Universal Driveshafts.
5-1330X -- 1330 Series Cap & Width Specifications
The 5-1330x specs: 1.063" cap dia | 3.625" width. Cap diameter determines which yoke bore it fits -- the cap must seat fully into the yoke without play. Bearing width (3.625" across the body) controls the span between yoke ears. A cross that is too wide won't fit; too narrow and the snap rings don't seat in the groove. SEALED.
Verify the yoke bore diameter against the 5-1330x cap size before installing. The snap ring style (outside snap ring retention) must match the yoke groove pattern -- OSR yokes have an external groove; ISR yokes have an internal groove. The 5-1330x is factory-sealed -- no maintenance interval, no grease fitting. Correct installation torque on the strap kit or U-bolt is critical -- undertorqued straps allow the cap to walk under load.
Installation Notes for 5-1330x
Before installing the 5-1330x, clean the yoke bores of any rust, burrs, or old bearing material. The bearing cups must drop in by hand -- never drive them in with a hammer directly on the cup. Use a proper cross-and-bearing installation tool or a press. Driving a cup in at an angle cocks the needle bearings and destroys the 5-1330x before it ever sees load.
After installation, verify full rotation without binding. A binding cross indicates a cup is cocked or seated too deep. The 5-1330x should articulate freely through the full operating angle of your driveshaft before the vehicle is lowered off the lift.
