Among the Ford 4180-series center support bearings, the 4180-60 sits at 2.748 inches center-to-base -- the tallest in this family. The difference between the 4180-60 and the 4180-50 is 0.224 inches, which sounds minor but represents a measurable change in driveshaft working angle. Ford engineers specified these different heights for different chassis and body configurations, so using the taller 4180-60 on an application that originally used the shorter 4180-50 will shift both U-joint operating angles on the adjacent midshaft ends.
