The Dodge 4180-series center support bearings span three different center-to-base heights -- 2.337 inches (4180-10), 3.250 inches (4180-15 and 4180-16) -- and all three carry the same 1.574-inch bore. This means bore measurement alone is not sufficient to confirm the correct unit. The 4180-10 at 2.337 inches is approximately 0.913 inches shorter than the 4180-16 at 3.250 inches, which is a significant geometric difference that directly affects driveshaft working angle once installed.

To verify the 4180-10 is correct: with the existing bearing installed and the vehicle at ride height, measure from the center of the bearing housing to the bracket mounting surface on the frame. If that measurement is approximately 2.337 inches, the 4180-10 is your unit. If it reads close to 3.250 inches, you need the 4180-15 or 4180-16. Installing the wrong-height bearing on a Dodge Ram two-piece shaft setup will change both U-joint operating angles on the midshaft ends and introduce vibration that is difficult to diagnose without knowing the height substitution was made.
