The 2880-29 serves Mercedes-Benz applications at the 1.250" center-to-base height -- between the 1.000" compact units and the taller 1.875" and 2.000" variants. This height is characteristic of mid-size Mercedes models where the propshaft routing places the center hanger bracket at this intermediate position.
An installation note specific to Mercedes mid-size platforms: the 1.250" bracket height positions the bearing in a zone where the rubber isolator can be contacted by the tunnel heat shield on some W211 (E-Class) configurations. Verify that the heat shield has at least 10 mm of clearance to the rubber isolator after installation -- if the heat shield contacts the rubber, both components should be repositioned.
