Full Description
The 2801-301 companion flange mounts to the pinion shaft and provides the bolt circle that the driveshaft flange yoke attaches to. It's the pinion-side interface — bore and keyway match the pinion shaft, bolt circle matches the flange yoke. The 2801-301 companion flange needs to be correct on both ends simultaneously: wrong bore means it won't seat on the shaft; wrong bolt circle means the yoke won't line up.

The 2801-301 companion flange specs: 1.000 bore | 100mm bolt circle | 0 pilot. Pinion Tri-Flange V6 12/18 Bolt hole. Bore must fit the pinion shaft without play — a loose companion flange damages the pinion seal and allows the shaft to wobble at speed. Keyway width must match the pinion shaft keyway exactly. Pilot diameter centers the flange yoke on the companion flange mounting face.
When replacing a 2801-301 companion flange, inspect the pinion seal at the same time. A worn seal that's been leaking may have softened the pinion shaft contact surface — running a new companion flange against a damaged shaft surface will score the bore quickly. Replace both components while the differential is open.
