When selecting a short couple driveshaft, measure flange face to flange face -- that is your flange-to-flange dimension. The 207785-1 is 9.500 inches between flange faces. The 5.500-inch centerline-to-centerline distance is the working length of the shaft, measured between the two U-joint cross centers; this determines the operating angle at each U-joint for a given parallel-flange offset.
