The 2-4-0782 PTO end yoke brings 1310HR series U-joint capability to keyed shaft applications. Unlike splined slip yokes, a keyed PTO yoke is designed for fixed-length connections where axial movement is not required. The round bore and precisely cut keyway ensure concentricity and positive drive engagement on PTO output shafts up to 2.12" in hub diameter.

PTO Yoke Selection Fundamentals

A PTO end yoke must be sized for both the driveshaft U-joint series and the driven shaft geometry. The U-joint series -- in this case, 1310HR -- determines the bearing cup cap diameter and torque rating. The bore, hub, and keyway dimensions determine whether the yoke will mount correctly on the PTO output shaft without excessive runout or fretting at the key-to-keyway interface.

The 1.125-inch bore of the 2-4-0782 accommodates standard 1310HR output shafts. The EAR-0.25 keyway transmits torque mechanically, but the retaining fastener -- typically a set screw or through-bolt specified in the equipment manual -- provides the axial retention that prevents the yoke from walking off the shaft under load reversals.

Installation and Torque Recommendations

• Clean the mating shaft and bore bore of any burrs or corrosion before assembly
• Verify keyway alignment is correct before pressing the yoke onto the shaft
• Apply Loctite 243 (medium-strength thread locker) to set screws where specified
• Torque the retaining hardware to specification -- PTO yokes that work loose under load cause rapid keyway and bore damage that requires shaft rework
• After installation, rotate the assembly by hand to verify zero runout before connecting the driveshaft
