SLIP ASEMBLY SET 65X172 FITS 140X5
Category Information

A splined sleeve (also called a slip collar or slip shaft) is the male-splined tube section that slides inside a female-splined yoke or sleeve assembly to provide axial telescoping motion in a driveshaft. While a slip yoke provides telescoping at the transmission output, a splined sleeve and separate slip assembly allows telescoping at an intermediate point in a two-piece or three-piece driveshaft — necessary when the fixed geometry of a long shaft requires additional travel beyond what a single slip yoke can provide.

Slip Assembly Components

Splined sleeve — the male splined member; slides axially inside the female sleeve under suspension travel
Female slip collar — receives the splined sleeve and is typically welded to an adjacent shaft tube
Seal — rubber or nylon lip seal that retains grease in the slip zone and excludes water and debris
Retention collar or clip — prevents the sleeve from pulling completely out of the assembly under extreme travel

Slip assembly selection requires matching the spline count, spline pitch diameter, and slip engagement length to your existing shaft geometry. These components are critical to driveline NVH — a loose slip fit (worn splines) transmits rotational lash as clunk on engagement, while a tight or galled slip fit binds under load and creates vibration. Universal Driveshafts lists all spline count, diameter, and slip range dimensions in each product listing.
