A CV (Constant Velocity) flange yoke is the half of a double-cardan or CV joint assembly that interfaces with the companion flange on a differential or transfer case. Unlike a standard flange yoke — which transmits torque through a single U-joint cross at a variable velocity — the CV flange yoke is part of a centering socket assembly that maintains constant velocity output regardless of operating angle. This eliminates the cyclic speed variation (and resulting vibration) that a single U-joint produces at high operating angles.
CV flange yokes are used in:
Front driveshafts with high articulation angles (lifted trucks, 4WD applications)
Transfer case output connections where the output angle exceeds 3-5 degrees continuous
Performance and custom builds requiring smooth power delivery at high shaft angles
Universal Driveshafts stocks CV flange yokes across 1310, 1330, 1350, and 1410 series in both standard and extended-socket configurations. Match by series, socket ball diameter, and companion flange bolt pattern.
