DOM (Drawn Over Mandrel) steel tubing is produced by cold-drawing welded tube over a mandrel, which closes the seam and improves concentricity. The result is tighter dimensional tolerances compared to ERW tubing, which matters when balancing a driveshaft -- eccentricity in the tube wall causes imbalance that becomes vibration at speed.
At 4.000" OD with a 0.095" wall, this tube is suited for light-duty custom driveshafts. Wall thickness determines torsional strength: thicker walls handle higher torque. For high-torque applications, compare this against 0.120" or 0.134" wall options in the same diameter before cutting.
