Specification first: TU3595 is 3.500" outside diameter, 0.095" wall thickness, DOM steel, sold by the foot.
The 0.095" wall is the standard light-duty choice for 3.500" OD driveshaft tube. It provides adequate torsional strength for stock or mildly modified vehicles in the 300-450 lb-ft torque range. When torque output exceeds this range, step to TU35134 (0.134" wall) or consider a larger-diameter tube altogether.
DOM process: the tube starts as ERW (electric resistance welded), then drawn over a mandrel cold. The drawing operation closes the seam and improves roundness and wall uniformity -- critical for driveshaft balance. An out-of-round tube requires more correction weight to balance, increasing parasitic imbalance forces at speed.
