231421-5 U-Bolt Nut -- 1/2-20 Thread
The 231421-5 with 0.500-20 UNF thread is the mid-range size in the 231421 family. Half-inch fine thread U-bolt nuts are used on mid-range Spicer series joints (typically 1310 series) where the U-bolt diameter is 1/2 inch. Using the wrong thread size in a U-bolt application is dangerous -- a 7/16-20 nut on a 1/2-20 bolt will appear to thread on but the engagement is only partial, leading to loss of clamp load under vibration.
