231421-2 -- Smallest U-Bolt Nut in 231421 Series
5/16-24 UNF thread for the lightest driveshaft U-joint bearing plate applications.
The 231421-2 at 5/16-24 UNF represents the lower end of the U-bolt nut range. Applications at this size include very light-duty 1210 series U-joints in passenger cars and imported compact trucks. Handle with care -- at 5/16 thread, the U-bolt is susceptible to overtorque damage. Never use an impact wrench to install these nuts; 6-8 ft-lb is the typical maximum torque.
