When the rubber deteriorates, the first symptom is often a shudder under load or a thud when engaging drive or reverse. The GAR02-001 rubber flex disc restores the elastic coupling for ROLLS ROYCE vehicles: 96MM bolt circle, 30MM width, 6 bolt holes at 12MM.

NVH Role of the Flex Disc

The flex disc does more than transmit torque -- it isolates the driveshaft from the transmission's torsional pulses. Each cylinder firing produces a brief torque spike; without isolation these spikes propagate as audible driveline clatter. The rubber elements of the GAR02-001 absorb these spikes and smooth the torque curve seen by the rear driveshaft and differential, directly reducing cabin noise and improving shift quality perception.

Identifying a Failed Flex Disc

Visual inspection is straightforward: with the vehicle on a lift and transmission in park, shine a light on the flex disc and look for radial cracks in the rubber, whitening of the rubber near bolt inserts (indicating over-stress), or separation between rubber and metal. Also check for any misalignment between the bolt flanges that would indicate a collapsed pilot center. Any of these findings calls for immediate replacement with the GAR02-001.

Installation Tips

• Clean the transmission and driveshaft bolt faces to remove old rust and grime
• Use new stretch bolts if your application requires them (some ROLLS ROYCE models do)
• Alternate fastening: start bolts but do not torque until all are threaded
• Torque in a star pattern to seat the disc evenly
• A small amount of rubber deflection under torque is normal -- do not over-tighten
