2682-800 -- Mercury Outdrive Yoke Shaft (Short Variant)
The 2682-800 is the compact Mercury outdrive yoke shaft at 4.500" CL-to-end. It differs from the 2682-801 (11.375" CL-to-end) in spline diameter (0.980" vs 1.125"), spline count (15 vs 17), and engagement length (0.675" vs 3.000"). These are not variants of the same component but two different Mercury outdrive shaft positions. The 0.675" spline engagement on the 2682-800 is the shortest in the 7260-series family -- this shaft mates with a very shallow outdrive input.
Marine application note: the 0.980" spline bore must be inspected for galvanic corrosion on aluminum outdrives. A thin layer of anti-seize compound on the splines at assembly prevents spline corrosion seizure. This stub shaft is specific to Mercury outdrive -- verify outdrive model compatibility before ordering.
