Full Description
Not all tube is DOM -- some is ERW (seam-welded) which is acceptable for low-speed applications but not for driveshafts. The TU17595 is DOM, which means no seam, no weak point.
TU17595 Driveshaft Tube -- Steel DOM Specs
The TU17595 driveshaft tube: 1.750"" OD x 95" wall | sold per 1.000". Note: SOLD BY FOOT - DOM. Steel DOM -- drawn over mandrel, consistent wall thickness, no weld seam, correct material for driveshaft applications.
Wall thickness determines critical speed and torque capacity. Thicker walls handle more torque but add rotating weight -- and rotating weight affects RPM limits more than static weight does.
