Aluminum alloy -- significantly lighter than steel, same torque range in larger diameters, requires proper MIG/TIG welding procedure. Calculate your driveshaft critical speed before finalizing tube diameter -- larger diameter tubes raise the critical speed limit, which matters on longer shafts.
