500174-1 -- Short Straight Grease Zerk (.250-28)
500174-1 is a short-body straight grease zerk with .250-28 thread, 0.312" hex, and a reduced overall length of 0.54". The shorter body reduces the fitting projection above the yoke ear face, which lowers the risk of the fitting contacting adjacent components (driveline tunnel, crossmember, exhaust) during rotation.

When the driveshaft operates in a tight tunnel or near exhaust components, a shorter zerk reduces the chance of the fitting being struck and broken off, which would leave the port open to contamination. Install with the appropriate torque using a 0.312" (5/16") hex wrench -- overtorquing strips the yoke port thread.
