Full Description
The 2812-315 rubber flex disc is the rubber driveshaft coupling used on CHRYSLER European and import vehicles in place of a u-joint. It flexes to absorb angular movement and vibration between the transmission output flange and the driveshaft — without the velocity variation that a standard u-joint produces at high operating angles. A cracked or hardened 2812-315 rubber flex disc causes driveline clunk and vibration that looks like a u-joint problem but requires a completely different fix.

The 2812-315 rubber flex disc specs: 86MM bolt circle | 3 holes | 18.91MM dia | 26.11 wide. Damper used with Tri-Prong. Note: Tri-Prong not included. Bolt circle diameter is the critical measurement — it has to match both the transmission output flange and the driveshaft input flange simultaneously. Disc width determines the angular flex range. Under-rated rubber fatigues fast; over-rated rubber transmits vibration instead of absorbing it.
Flex disc replacement is straightforward: six bolts out, new 2812-315 rubber flex disc in, torque to spec. The one mistake to avoid is reusing rubber that feels firm but shows fine surface cracking — hardened rubber can't flex properly and the vibration it was supposed to absorb gets passed directly to the chassis.
