Short couple driveshafts exist because not every vehicle has the luxury of a long shaft run with gentle operating angles. Lifted trucks, swapped drivetrains, lowered customs, and certain OEM applications create situations where the distance between the transmission and the differential is simply too short for a conventional single-piece shaft to operate efficiently.
